Phoolja Foundation was born out of a deep commitment to transform the lives of women in rural India by equipping them with meaningful livelihood opportunities. Recognizing the untapped potential of rural women and the need for sustainable solutions, the foundation combines economic empowerment with environmental responsibility. By harnessing locally available agro-waste and converting it into everyday utility products, Phoolja not only fosters financial independence but also promotes eco-conscious entrepreneurship. Through skill-building programs, enterprise development, and access to markets, the foundation envisions a future where women lead the change—becoming pillars of strength, innovation, and prosperity in their communities.

At Phoolja Foundation, we believe that skill is the foundation of self-reliance. Our training programs are designed to build practical and marketable abilities—ranging from entrepreneurship to digital literacy and socio-emotional learning. Through hands-on, community-rooted workshops, we ensure that every individual gains the confidence and capability to pursue sustainable livelihoods. Our goal is to turn learning into lasting empowerment.
We champion the idea of transforming agricultural waste into valuable, eco-friendly products. From cornhusks to discarded flowers, our agri-waste value addition program supports rural communities in converting what was once waste into opportunity. This not only promotes environmental sustainability but also opens new avenues for income generation. It’s our way of creating a circular economy—where nothing goes to waste, and everything adds value.
Preserving tradition while promoting enterprise, we work with local artisans—especially women—to craft handmade products rooted in heritage. From home décor to utility items, each product tells a story of creativity, culture, and resilience. We support these grassroots entrepreneurs through training, design innovation, and market linkage, turning traditional skills into thriving enterprises.
Empowering youth and women is at the heart of our mission. Our comprehensive training modules focus on life skills, leadership, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. These programs are designed to nurture confidence, boost employability, and spark local innovation. Whether it’s launching a business or leading in the community, our training helps individuals become agents of change in their own lives and beyond.

Join us in creating real change for women in rural communities. As a volunteer, you’ll help deliver skill-building programs, awareness sessions, and support systems that enable women to rise with confidence and independence. Your time, voice, and commitment can help shape a future where every woman has the power to thrive.

At Phoolja, we turn village waste into value. This program transforms agricultural by-products like cornhusk and cow dung—once burned or discarded—into sustainable, handcrafted home décor items. This year alone, tons of kilograms of agri-waste have been responsibly collected and repurposed into eco-friendly products like baskets, mats, pots, and idols. It’s not just about recycling—it’s about regenerating rural livelihoods and preserving our environment.
We believe empowerment begins with skill. At Phoolja, our skill development programme is core to every initiative. Through focused training in socio-emotional learning, financial literacy, digital skills, and enterprise development, we help women and youth build the confidence and capacity to lead. These trainings are the foundation for long-term, sustainable change in rural communities.
From agri-waste to enterprise—this programme empowers women to become creators and earners. Women are trained in designing and crafting market-ready products from agricultural waste, and are connected to forward markets to ensure sales and income. It’s more than skill-building—it’s building a future where rural women lead sustainable enterprises with dignity and purpose.

I am the Village Head of Jugasana Kalan. From our whole village, I want to say thank you to Phoolja Foundation for the good work you are doing here. The way you are teaching our women to make useful and beautiful things from waste like corn husk and cow dung, this is very nice. It gives them confidence and helps them earn with their own hands. Now they are learning something new and becoming strong and independent. Your work is helping in many ways, cleanliness, earning money, saving the environment, and giving strength to women. It is good example for other people also. We all from the Gram Panchayat give you blessings and wish you more success in future. Keep doing this good work.

My name is Chanchal, I’m 19 years old from Jugsana Kalan village. After completing 12th class, I wasn’t sure what my future held. Coming from a humble background, I never imagined I could earn or support my family. That changed when I joined Phoolja Foundation. Through their training program, I learned to craft beautiful flowers from cornhusk, something we used to throw away. At first, it was difficult, but with support and regular practice, I slowly gained confidence and improved my skills. Today, I can proudly say that I not only create professional-looking bouquets, but also earn a regular income through it. Phoolja has helped me grow beyond just crafting. I’ve learned about teamwork, financial literacy, and even participated in stalls where we sold our products. My family, especially my parents, are proud of me. With the money I earn, I help at home and save for the future. The training has given me identity, confidence, and dreams. I hope to one day train other girls and even start my own small business. I am grateful to Phoolja Foundation for believing in me and helping me realize that even small hands can create a big change.

My name is Pooran Devi, and I come from Jugsana Kalan village. I am an elderly woman, and for most of my life, I have devoted myself to my family and household responsibilities. As I grew older, I often felt dependent and left behind, but deep inside, I still had the desire to contribute and stand on my own feet. That’s when I came across Phoolja Foundation’s initiative to train women in crafting cornhusk flowers—a skill that felt both new and deeply familiar. We’ve always used agricultural waste in our homes, but I never imagined it could be transformed into such beautiful, sellable products. With the support of the Phoolja team, I learned how to shape, dye, and assemble flowers using natural materials. Despite my age, they welcomed me warmly and gave me the confidence to learn at my own pace. Today, I proudly earn a small but steady income by making cornhusk flowers and decorative pieces. This work has given me purpose, dignity, and independence in my later years. I feel active, valued, and hopeful. It’s never too late to begin again—and I thank Phoolja Foundation for showing me that.
